About our Nursery and Schoolies Club

The Nursery was formally a primary school that has been refurbished with young children in mind. There are 2 rooms suitably equipped to help your child make the transition from baby to infant. There is a Pre-School room where your child will be prepared for their future school life. Finally we have a ‘Schoolies’ room where children come to us before and after school and in the school holidays. All facilities are on one floor. There is also an extensive outdoor area including a growing patch.

We have been open since 1994 and have received many awards. Please see the awards page for more details. We have a 'GOOD' OFSTED rating. Please click here to access our report.

A safe, stimulating, homely and happy environment

The Next Generation has been created with the aim to provide individual care for each child in a safe, stimulating, homely and happy environment. We recognise the need to encourage your child to develop, to achieve their full potential, and give them the best start preparing them for school and their future lives.

Furthering your child’s development

During your child’s day at nursery, we will observe them incidentally in accordance with the new Early Years Foundation Stage framework. These observations will inform our planning so that opportunities and activities are made available to further your child’s development. We compose 6 weekly ‘overviews’ reports to keep you informed on your child’s progress and to help you share progress at home with us – we also have parent observation boards for this purpose. We also complete EYFS trackers for each child.

We operate a keyworker system that basically means that your child will be allocated a member of staff on starting nursery. This doesn’t mean that they will not spend time with the others it simply means that this person will be responsible for changing, feeding and charting their progress. This way the keyworker gets to know your child and what is their ‘norm’.

Qualified staff

All our staff are qualified to national standards or above. All hold Child & Infant first aid and basic food hygiene certificates. All staff hold enhanced police clearance disclosures and are trained in ‘Safeguarding’. Staff receive many opportunities to increase their skills with additional training courses.

We are open 7.30 – 6.00 Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year excluding public holidays, and offer a wide range of full & part time places.
