Our Under 2’s room Intent.

“ To provide security, reassurance and structure in turn creating keen and confident explorers.”

Under 2’s Room

We care for and nurture babies from as early as 6-8 weeks old right up until the age of two within our Under 2’s room. We strive to support babies into a routine that works for them which provides them with the security, reassurance and structure they need to begin to learn and grow. Before starting with us in our Under 2’s room, you will fill in further forms detailing your babies current routine, likes, dislikes and needs etc to help us to get to know your baby well before providing their care. Taster sessions are also offered to help support your babies settling period once enrolled.

The room itself is tailored to meet the individual needs and the level of development of each child and is therefore adapted and enhanced regularly in order to do so. As babies learn through their senses, exploration and through trial and error, we aim to provide resources of heuristic play which are open-ended to encourage such exploration and thinking skills in turn further supporting schematic play opportunities that we recognise and promote in the children we care for. Additionally, children are engaged in further sensory experiences daily as well as having ample resources and items for specific learning to take place. You can read more about Schematic Play and what it entails by following the link below:

Schematic learning

Our babies are engaged in a short group time each day that can involve singing, ring games and rhymes as well as specific teaching and learning moments influenced by the adults in promoting communication, language, social and physical skills. This group time forms a further basis for practitioners to build upon to specifically teach during a focused time that is tailored and adapted to each individual child’s age and stage of development.

We promote Safe Sleeping to all of our Under 2’s parents and carers and share information on this within our new starter welcome packs. Please follow the link below for further information and to visit the Lullaby Trust website.

I like to give our babies the love, care and support that their individual needs require. In order to do this, I strive on building good relationships with parents/carers from the start, so that we can work together as a team to best support the babies in our care.
